...ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 7 PM EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Significant icing expected. Ice accumulation from
freezing rain around two to four tenths of an inch. Total snow
and sleet accumulation accumulations of up to one inch. East to
southeast wind gusts around 35 to 45 mph expected, especially
Friday afternoon and evening.

* WHERE...Northern Virginia Blue Ridge.

* WHEN...From 7 AM to 7 PM EST Friday. A wintry mix of snow,
sleet, and freezing rain will overspread the area between
between 6 AM and 9 AM Friday morning. Precipitation will change
to freezing rain Friday afternoon before changing to rain Friday
evening.

* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the
ice and strong winds. Travel could be nearly impossible. The
hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening
commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel is strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency. Prepare for possible power outages.

When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on
steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery,
increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
