THURSDAY AFTERNOON FOR GRASSLAND FIRES FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES
070, 071, 072, 073, 074, 075, 081, 082, 083, 084, 085, 086, 092,
093, 094, 095, 096, AND 097...

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Fire
Weather Watch, which is in effect from Thursday morning through
Thursday afternoon.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire weather zones 070, 071, 072, 073, 074,
075, 081, 082, 083, 084, 085, 086, 092, 093, 094, 095, 096,
and 097.

* WIND...Sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph at
times.

* HUMIDITY...Lowest relative humidity of 20 to 30 percent
expected.

* HIGHEST THREAT...South of Interstate 80 though there is an
elevated risk of grassland fires due to stronger winds across
most of central and southern Iowa south of US 30.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible
Red Flag Warnings.
