MORNING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY FOR PORTIONS OF
NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA AND FAR NORTHWEST NEVADA...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Fire Weather
Watch for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from
Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

* Affected Area...Fire Zone 270 Surprise Valley California, Fire
Zone 271 Western Lassen/Eastern Plumas/Eastern Sierra/Eastern
Nevada Counties, Fire Zone 272 Greater Lake Tahoe Area, Fire
Zone 278 Eastern Lassen County and Fire Zone 458 Northern
Washoe County.

* Winds...A strong cold front is expected to bring southwest to
west wind gusts between 30 and 45 mph starting Sunday afternoon
and lasting into early Monday.

* Humidity...falling to 10 to 17% Sunday afternoon, with poor to
moderate humidities possibly persisting into early Monday.

* Duration...More than 6 hours, possibly up to 12 hours.

* Impacts...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can
cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first
responders can contain them.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry
vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires.
Follow local fire restrictions. Check weather.gov/reno for
updates and livingwithfire.info for preparedness tips.
