...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM
EDT THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northwest North Carolina and
southwest Virginia, including the following areas, in
northwest North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, and Watauga. In
southwest Virginia, Carroll and Grayson.

* From 2 PM this afternoon to 8 PM EDT this evening

* 1 to 2 inches of rain has already fallen in the watch area since
midnight. An additional 2 to 3 inches is expected between now
and 8 PM.

* Urban and small stream flash flooding is possible if rainfall
rates begin to exceed 1.5 inches per hour.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Remember...TURN AROUND...DON'T DROWN!

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
