...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 AM HST THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County...

* WHEN...Until 715 AM HST.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in
streams.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 410 AM HST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain over the Ka'u district from Naalehu to Hawai'i
Volcanoes National Park. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly in the advisory area. Rain was falling at a rate of
1 to 2 inches per hour.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pahala, Wood Valley, Punaluu Beach, Kawa Flats, Hawaii Volcanoes
National Park, Naalehu, Waiohinu and Discovery Harbour.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.
