The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
South Central Garfield County in southern Utah...
Northeastern Kane County in southern Utah...

* Until 900 PM MDT.

* At 630 PM MDT, the river gauge on the Escalante River at Escalante
indicated another flood wave near 2560 cfs that will continue to
surge down the Escalante River. The Flash Flood Warning has been
extended until 900 PM MDT. Up to 2.25 inches of rain has fallen
primarily near the town of Escalante upstream of this warning.
Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of the Escalante River.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
The Escalante River from near the town of Escalante to the terminus
at Lake Powell.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry
washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
