...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 AM HST THIS MORNING...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
* WHERE...The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County...
* WHEN...Until 745 AM HST.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in
streams. Water over roadways. River or stream flows are elevated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 413 AM HST, Doppler radar indicated moderate rain over Hilo,
Hamakua, Kohala and Kona districts. Minor flooding is ongoing due
to rain bands associated with Hurricane Lala. Rain was falling at
a rate of up to 1 inch per hour. Streams remain elevated across
the area. Additional moderate rain is expected through the early
morning hours.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hilo, Kailua-Kona, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Captain Cook, Waikoloa
Village, Kapaau, Honokaa, Pohakuloa Camp, Pohakuloa Training
Area, Kamuela, Puuanahulu and Paauilo.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don't drown.
A Flood Watch is also in effect for the Big Island through today.
