...ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM SATURDAY TO 7 AM EST
MONDAY...
* WHAT...Significant icing, including compacted sleet and snow,
expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to two inches and
ice accumulations around one inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE...A portion of the mountains of western North Carolina near
the Tennessee border, including Buncombe and northern Jackson

* IMPACTS...Ice and snow covered roadways will become treacherous

outages could last for days in some areas. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ice, snow and sleet accumulations will
increase rapidly between 7 PM Saturday evening and midnight Sunday
morning. Ice accumulation will taper off Sunday evening but light
snow may occur Sunday night and early Monday morning.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
An Ice Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant amounts of ice accumulations will
make travel dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly discouraged.
Commerce will likely be severely impacted. If you must travel, keep
a flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency. Ice accumulations and winds will likely lead to snapped
power lines and falling tree branches that add to the danger.
Prepare for possible power outages. The latest road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
