...EXTREME COLD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM
CST SATURDAY...
* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 to 45 below are
expected tonight. Daytime wind chills on Friday will be around 25
to 30 below before dropping again to 35 to 40 below again Friday
night into early Saturday morning.
* WHERE...Marathon, Portage, Wood, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida, Vilas,
Florence, and Forest Counties.
* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 6 AM CST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 45 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A Cold Weather Advisory may be necessary
Saturday morning if cold air lingers longer in the region.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go
outside.
To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.
