SATURDAY MORNING...
* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below expected
late tonight and Friday morning. Dangerously cold wind chills as
low as 25 below are possible Friday night and Saturday morning.
* WHERE...In Illinois, Hancock, Henderson, McDonough, and Warren
Counties. In Iowa, Lee and Van Buren Counties. In Missouri, Clark
and Scotland Counties.
* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 3 AM to noon CST Friday.
For the Extreme Cold Watch, from Friday afternoon through Saturday
morning.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.
To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
