...INCREASED FIRE DANGER FROM 10 AM EST THIS MORNING
THROUGH THIS EVENING...
Relative humidity is expected to drop below 25% this afternoon as
extremely dry Arctic air arrives in the Carolinas. Gusts as high
as 25-30 kts will accompany this air mass, resulting in potential
for fine dead fuel moisture to drop to critical levels. Although
cold temperatures will somewhat limit erratic fire behavior, the
risk for quick spread of fires will nonetheless be elevated across
the South Carolina Upstate and northeast Georgia this afternoon.
Consult your local burn permitting authority on whether you may
burn today. If you do burn, exercise extreme caution.
