The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Charleston County in southeastern South Carolina...

* Until 715 PM EDT.

* At 422 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated widespread thunderstorms
with heavy rain extending across much of central Charleston County
including portions of North Charleston, West Ashley, Johns Island
and James Island. As much as 2 to 3 inches of rain has already
fallen in some areas this afternoon. An additional 1 to 3 inches
could fall through 715 PM, resulting in areas of flash flooding.
Road closures are possible.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
North Charleston, Hanahan, West Ashley, I-26/I-526 Interchange,
Johns Island, James Island, Hollywood, Ravenel and Meggett.

This includes the following highways...
I-26 between mile markers 210 and 220.
I-526 between mile markers 11 and 22.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
