...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN CATAWBA AND EASTERN
LINCOLN COUNTIES THROUGH 530 PM EDT...
At 506 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 5
miles northeast of Lincolnton, or near Boger City, moving east at 15
mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Lincolnton, Maiden, Westport, Boger City, Iron Station, Lake Norman,
Denver, Lowesville, Sherrills Ford, and Terrell.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
If on or near Lake Norman, it is advisable to get out of the water
and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike
out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to
safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
