The National Weather Service in Columbia has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Lancaster County in central South Carolina...

* Until 845 AM EDT.

* At 440 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain falling across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches
of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches
are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Lancaster, Springdale, Indian Land, Kershaw, Elgin, Heath Springs,
USC Lancaster, Irwin, Andrew Jackson State Park, Van Wyck,
Lancaster Mill, McDonald Green Elementary School, Arrowood
Estates, Camp Creek Fire Station, Bear Creek Park, Kirk Air Base,
McWhirter Airfield, Antioch, Faith Christian School and Bell Town
Fire Station.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a
flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown.
